A Westchester Avenue apartment building in Port Chester was temporarily evacuated shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, when the fire was reported on the third floor, prompting a heavy response from local fire departments.
The fire was knocked down in less than an hour and is currently under investigation.
No injuries were initially reported, and officials said the fire was knocked down without incident. The building was then ventilated due to smoke, though residents have been allowed back inside the building. Check Daily Voice for updates.
